California regulator disputes proposed workers' comp rate hike
California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner questioned a proposal from the state Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau to raise workers' compensation rates by 22.8%. After turning down an earlier proposal to increase the rates 24%, Poizner said he "will closely scrutinize this new WCIRB filing for evidence that the efforts are being made."
