Campus expansion wins concrete award for architectural merit
Several projects won 2012 Ontario Concrete Awards that recognize the use of concrete in an innovative manner. The one that won for architectural merit was an expansion project at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, which was designed by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects and made use of precast panels as cladding elements. "Concrete was utilized throughout the building’s structure from the foundations to the roof ... and as part of the finish material palette in select locations throughout the building," said Gerry Harding, vice president of Eastern Construction.
