A study from the RN Work Project links verbal abuse experienced by nurses to poorer perceptions of their work environment and their commitment to the organization. Researchers said, however, the study could not determine whether working conditions create an environment that makes verbal abuse from physicians more likely or whether the abuse itself creates unfavorable working conditions. The study was published in the journal Nursing Outlook.
