Toyota will pay $1.1B to settle unintended-acceleration lawsuits
Toyota says it will pay $1.1 billion to settle lawsuits claiming that defects in some Toyota and Lexus models caused unintended acceleration. The company will retrofit 3.2 million cars to make them easier to halt in an emergency. Cash payouts will be given to owners of models that can't be retrofitted.
