Chili pepper growers from the U.S. to Australia are in a heated competition to create the world's hottest pepper using different techniques including specially enriched soil. The current record holder, the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T, boasts 1.464 million Scoville units, about 225 times the amount of the everyday jalapeno.
