Burger King Worldwide reported higher restaurant sales than expected in the U.S. and Canada in the third quarter, while McDonald’s reported its worst quarter of restaurant sales in almost a decade. Burger King's same-restaurant sales rose by 1.4%, and the quick-service chain attributes its increased sales to marketing efforts that targeted women and adults over 50 in addition to its regular 18- to 35-year-old male customer.
