The French Laundry and The Restaurant at Meadowood in California's Napa Valley wine region each retained their three stars in the updated Michelin guide to San Francisco-area restaurants that was released Wednesday. "Three Michelin stars is considered the utmost international recognition in the culinary world, and is reserved for those restaurants that serve exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey," according to Michelin.
