Amyris has raised $42.25 million in new funding after a private placement of more than 14.17 million shares to existing investors. Total Gas & Power USA received a portion of the shares in exchange for writing off $5 million of a convertible promissory note from Amyris. Meanwhile, Amyris' Biofene plant in Brazil is up and running, with commercial sale of the product expected in the first quarter of 2013, said CEO John Melo.
