Americans consumed 3% less energy in the first nine months of this year compared with the same period last year, data from the Energy Information Administration showed. Energy consumption in the transportation sector fell 1.2%, the EIA said. Fossil fuel production grew 3.14% while renewable energy production dropped 2.8%.
