The Pentagon is looking to upgrade escape hatches on 500 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles as troops in Afghanistan contend with massive roadside bombs. The escape hatches would make it easier to rescue troops in vehicles that have been hit by explosions powerful enough to flip them over.
