Daily antiseptic bathing reduces bacteremia in PICUs
Patients at pediatric intensive care units who received daily chlorhexidine gluconate baths had significantly lower incidence of bacteremia than patients in the standard bathing protocol group, according to a study in The Lancet. The incidence of skin reactions associated with the antiseptic bathing was 1.2 per 1,000 days, and researchers reported no serious adverse events.
