Researchers provide clues on how elephants communicate
Elephants emit a rumbling sound when they are making a decision, say researchers who have been studying them for two decades. The researchers observed watering holes and found that the rumbling sound will be initiated by the leader in the group, followed by the other dominant members of the group. "It demonstrates there's a very coordinated organized structure," said Stanford University behavioral ecologist Caitlin O'Connell-Rodwell.
