Carnivorous plants emit ultraviolet light that "glows" in the vision of insects and attracts prey, according to a study in Plant Biology. This glow, previously unseen and unknown by humans, "is the most distinct fluorescent emission found in the plant kingdom," said Sabulal Baby, the study's author and a plant biologist at the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute in India.
