Calif. schools are allowed to sell produce from gardens
Schools in California will be able to sell produce from on-campus gardens and invest that money back into garden programs under a bill signed recently by Gov. Jerry Brown. The lawmaker who authored the bill, Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, D-Concord, said legislation will help to protect school gardens -- which aim to reduce childhood obesity and give students increased access to fresh produce -- from budget cuts.
