House committee approves medical isotope bill

The House Energy and Commerce Committee on Friday approved the American Medical Isotopes Production Act, which would allot $163 million for the domestic production of molybdenum-99 using low-enriched uranium. If the bill is passed into law, the Department of Energy will allocate the funding to the private or research sectors that would be involved in the medical isotope production.
