The Healthcare Supply Chain Association has called on the FDA to reduce from seven years to three years the time frame for enacting a unique device identifier system for medical devices. "[P]atient safety outcomes far outweigh any rationale, economic or otherwise, for such a prolonged phase-in," the group wrote in a comment letter sent to the FDA.
