How marketers can harness Google's secret weapon
Google has launched an e-mail tool that filters out the distractions from your in-box -- and in doing so has revealed its secret weapon in its clash with Facebook, writes Augie Ray. Google's biggest strength is sorting signals from noise to provide users with relevant content, Ray writes, and that's exactly what the social-media world needs right now. "The noise in social media is getting deafening. ... I expect 2011 to be the year of relevance in social media, and the winners will be the social applications that make our lives richer, not noisier," he writes.
