Online university relies on social networks
The University of the People, a low-cost, California-based online educational institution, is using social networking to combat the retention problems that plague many online schools. Students will be required to discuss homework with other students online, and teachers will supervise discussions among classmates when asked for help. "We are fitting the current culture into the academic culture," said founder Shai Reshef.
