Emissions rules leave cruise-ship operators with a sinking feeling
The establishment of "Emission Control Areas" along portions of European and North American coastlines could force cruise ships to travel to alternative destinations, experts say. Green fuels are more expensive and are available at fewer locations. "Cruise ships may have to leave some areas of the world, because these ports won't be viable if you can't buy the fuel," says former cruise-company marketer Nigel Lindgard.
