Security Council is deadlocked over Israel-Gaza fighting
A UN Security Council statement that would have condemned the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip was blocked Tuesday by the U.S. In response, Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said the U.S. was "filibustering," while U.S. spokeswoman Erin Pelton said the measure "failed to address the root cause" of the hostilities.
