Taliban attacks UN house, killing 6 UN staff
Three militants using suicide vests, grenades and machine guns attacked a guesthouse used by the UN and other organizations, killing six UN employees and wounding nine, making it the deadliest attack on the UN in Afghanistan since the fall of the Taliban. The attack also claimed the lives of one civilian and two Afghan security personnel. Condemning the unprecedented attacks, UN Special Representative to Afghanistan Kai Eide said the attack "will not, I repeat, will not deter the UN from continuing its work to reconstruct a war-torn country and to build a better future for the Afghan people."
