3. AlcaLu: Customers lining up for 400 Gbps optical products

Alcatel-Lucent says it is seeing unexpected demand from a handful of its customers for its soon-to-be-released 400 Gbps networking products. The Federal Communications Commission is considering a rule change that would designate "over the top" video providers, such as Hulu and Netflix, as multichannel video programming distributors, which would give those services a freer hand in dealing with the broadcast networks and cable channels, T.C. 10. Deutsche Telekom parent sees little chance of T-Mobile sale

In the aftermath of the failed attempt to sell T-Mobile USA to AT&T, the head of parent company Deutsche Telekom said it was unlikely that the carrier would be sold. On the wireline side, chief executive Rene Obermann pointed to European regulators in asserting that "politicians at the European level and the national regulatory authorities are taking away the incentives for investment."
