POZEN is no poseur when it comes to its single-minded focus on pain management. The drug development company is creating what it hopes will be better treatments for pain and pain-related conditions. In 2008 it won FDA approval for adult migraine treatment Treximet, which it developed in partnership with GlaxoSmithKline; GlaxoSmithKline has commercialization rights to the drug. The company is also working on a combination drug with AstraZeneca that may treat the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis with fewer gastrointestinal side effects than existing treatments. It has licensed US rights to another pain treatment called lornoxicam from Nycomed.
