FCC adopts new pretexting rules

Under new FCC rules, telecom companies, as well as other carriers, will have to get customer permission before releasing personal information to third parties and will also be required to prove to regulators each year that they are in compliance. "We are deeply concerned that the FCC is taking an overly broad approach," USTelecom CEO Walter McCormick said. "This is an extremely anti-consumer outcome."
