Consolidated boasts strong results, even with new rival
Consolidated Communications said its access line losses dropped by 1.7% in the third quarter, its lowest level since early last year, even in the face of new cable competition. The carrier's executives predicted further improvement in the months ahead. "We think we've got the right product set; IPTV really pulls through broadband [orders]," said CEO Bob Currey, whose company operates in Illinois, Texas and Pennsylvania. The telecom said it signed up a record 1,800 new IPTV subscribers and expanded its broadband base by 14% from a year ago.
