Basic cell phones can take on PDA tasks

Several ordinary cell phones can achieve the capabilities of Treos, Sidekicks and BlackBerrys through add-on software and their built-in features. The New York Times offers options for turning a regular cell phone into the "poor man's BlackBerry -- minus the keyboard."
