Analysis: Will Vodafone sell its portion of Verizon Wireless?

U.K.-based Vodafone has until Aug. 9 to decide if it will end its joint venture with Verizon Communications by selling back its 45% stake in Verizon Wireless. Vodafone is under pressure from shareholders to make the move, which would give Verizon full control over the wireless service, the second-largest in the U.S., but the European operator has shown no interest in letting go of the stake.
