Telecom execs: Convergence, IPTV will drive broadband demand

At NXTcomm, Verizon Communications CEO Ivan Seidenberg said there would be a need for more bandwidth as his company continued to roll out its FiOS Internet and video service. Cisco Systems CEO John Chambers predicted that convergence would drive broadband demand up 300% to 500% a year for several years. Services, such as AT&T's Video Share, introduced this week, will only increase demand and pressure on networks.
