Verizon Communications' FiOS on-demand offering and Comcast's on-demand programming available in the Baltimore area represent an industry-wide battle to attract customers. The video-on-demand and subscriber-video-on-demand market is expected to reach $1.6 billion this year, up from $1.15 billion in 2006.
