Green computes at Verizon Wireless
Verizon Wireless' decision to reduce its number of data centers has helped the company save $20 million in operating costs as well as reduce its power consumption, according to the carrier's Chief Information Officer John Hinshaw. To further its savings, the company now uses NightWatchman applications that turn computers on and off as needed for software patches.
