Google Voice reaches 1.4M users, sees competition heat up

Google said that 570,000 people used its Google Voice tool each day and that 1.4 million were regular users as the company unintentionally let slip the information -- part of a confidential FCC filing -- on the agency's Web site. Google Voice has a new rival: BT-owned Ribbit plans to launch Ribbit Mobile, which also seeks to route users' calls -- including landline ones -- to a single number.
