Sprint upbeat despite losses, moves forward with iPCS buy

Sprint Nextel chief Dan Hesse remains upbeat about the carrier, noting that the quarter marked the company's best net retail subscriber results in more than 24 months. The carrier said its subscriber losses slowed during the third quarter, and Hesse expects the customer decline to eventually stabilize. Sprint also announced it had advanced its plans to purchase affiliate iPCS by launching a tender offer for the company.
