Natural gas credited for drop in greenhouse gases in New England
A gradual transition to natural gas-powered electricity generation has led to a massive reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across New England, a study finds. According to regional grid administrator ISO New England, levels of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide have decreased more than 50% over the past decade because of increased pollution controls and more dependence on natural-gas power plants.
