Grid modernization to drive push for new storage technologies
The maturation of the smart grid will drive robust demand for new technologies that can capture, store and rapidly deploy surplus energy, according to a forecast from Pike Research. The market for so-called "spinning reserves" will grow by 40% through 2022 -- generating revenue of $578 million -- with "newer forms of energy storage" expected to play a larger role, the research firm said.
