Study: Changes in work structure affect career growth for women
Work structure changes are hindering career growth for women in the oil and natural gas industry, according to a study of female geoscientists by Stanford University's Clayman Institute for Gender Research. There are a similar number of men and women who enter the industry, but women "stall out in midcareer," said sociologist Christine Williams. Career maps, networking's increased role in career development and team implementation are disadvantages for women, the study finds.
