Taking advantage of flextime will improve your office image if the boss thinks you're using it to improve your productivity, an upcoming paper from researchers at the University of Minnesota argues. However, your career will take a hit if the boss thinks you're taking flextime for personal reasons, the paper says. "The lesson? When requesting flexibility in a work arrangement, forget work-life balance and emphasize productivity gains instead," Melissa Korn writes.
