In an effort to settle pending lawsuits, Microsoft Corp. tentatively has agreed to a $1.1 billion five-year program to provide software and computers to more than 14,000 of the nation's poorest schools. If the deal is approved, Microsoft would settle more than 100 private antitrust lawsuits, filed as a result of claims accusing the computer maker of overcharging for its software and technology.
