Mexican bread manufacturer Grupo Bimbo yesterday purchased Canada's George Weston for $610 million. Bimbo now can make and distribute in the U.S. West such established brands as Entenmann's cakes, Thomas' English muffins and Boboli pizza. The acquisition, subject to U.S. antitrust approval, includes six production plants in the U.S. and 1,300 new distribution routes.
