The Labor Department today reported that unemployment claims for the week ending March 2 dropped by a seasonally adjusted 5,000 to 376,000. The four-week moving average dipped to 372,750, the lowest since Aug. 11. Productivity rose by an annual rate of 5.2% for the fourth quarter, up from a 3.5% forecast, bringing the year's increase to 1.9% compared with 3.3% for 2000.
