The Food Marketing Institute yesterday introduced a labeling program designed to encourage consumers to cook meat at 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The association is offering members labels for ground beef packages with the message "Cook to 160 Degrees to Kill Bacteria." The labels can be downloaded for free from the FMI Web site at http://www.fmi.org/foodsafety/packaging.htm. They also will be available for purchase from the FMI Store beginning Friday, Aug. 9.
