The University of South Carolina's String Project aims to rekindle an interest in the violin and other string instruments by offering one-on-one instruction to a diverse population of children. Program founder Robert Jesselson hopes the program's additional mission of developing music educators will help ease the current 5,000 vacancies in full-time string teachers within public schools around the country.
