The administration is considering changing policies regarding animal feed in light of recent BSE developments. The FDA is expected to announce its proposals, said to include banning cow blood, blood products and poultry litter in cattle feed and banning the use of cows' small intestines in human food products.
Rite Aid reported a net income of $73.6 million in the last fiscal quarter, compared to a $16.4 million loss last year. Same-store sales were up 6.4% and same-store prescription drug sales increased 6.5%.
