Researchers who followed 120 families who used the popular antibacterial soaps over a year say they found no significant differences in the numbers of runny noses, sore throats and fevers than another group that used regular soaps and detergents. While health care providers may not find the results surprising, many consumers may be under the impression that the soaps offer more protection, say researchers.
