New York City transit officials are in the final year of a $10 billion, five-year capital improvement program for the city's subway system. The project has included a $1.9 billion rehabilitation of 64 subway stations, $607 million for replacement of 40 miles of track, $650 million for mechanical and ventilation equipment, $654 million for track structures and $1 billion for signaling upgrades.
