The majority of hospitals and other health care organizations are complying with the new HIPAA privacy rule that took effect about a year ago, however the rule still presents challenges, according to a new survey. About 68% of the 1,192 HIPAA compliance professionals surveyed said their facilities were 85% to 99% compliant with the rule, and 23% said their organizations were fully compliant, but challenges include following requirements about disclosing protected health information.
