Lawmakers and other government officials are trying to explain and clarify new federal overtime regulations released last week, and some say the final rules may not be so final. The U.S. Labor Department says its revised final rule expands those who will be eligible for overtime pay beyond a more restrictive earlier draft, increasing the high-end wage mark for those who will lose overtime benefits from $65,000 to $100,000. Some lawmakers this week have introduced resolutions against the changes, arguing that any reduction in the number of workers eligible for overtime pay is unacceptable.
