Citing their Christian faith, three trustees are standing firm in their refusal to align the Westminster (Calif.) School District's antidiscrimination policy with state law on the grounds that the revision would immorally promote alternative lifestyles. In a rare, personal letter to the board, State Schools Superintendent Jack O'Connell warned that if the district did not reverse itself, he might withhold as much as nearly $12 million in state funding as a sanction.
