A new study to be published next month in the journal Biological Psychiatry found that an intensive remedial reading program activated the word-form region of the brains of dyslexic children function the same way average readers' brains do. After one year of the phonics-based tutoring, the children had made up half the gap between their initial scores and those of a control group of normal readers.
