Researchers at the University of Iowa College of Public Health say teens who eat a balanced diet that includes lean cuts of red meat enjoy higher levels of "ready to use" iron, which is particularly important for those active in sports. The researchers, who studied teens on a low saturated fat diet, said some cuts of lean beef are actually lower in fat than certain turkey and chicken products, but the iron benefit comes only from beef.
