Viewers of Fox's just-wrapped hit show "American Idol" sent a total of 13.5 million votes by text messaging during the season, up from the previous season's 7.5 million, show sponsor AT&T Wireless Services said. The frequent use of SMS during the show supports AT&T Wireless' goal of text messaging being as common as cell phone conversations, company executive Andre Dahan said.
